Kevin Barnes, the creative mind behind Atlanta based indie pop outfit “Of Montreal” has revealed his latest upcoming release plans. In an interview with the Washington Post, Barnes stated that he will release “False Priest” on September 14, 2010 on Polyvinyl Records, and another EP titled “The Controller Sphere” sometime next spring.

He claims that he has had the material written and recorded for these albums since the 2007 album “Hissing Fauna, are you the Destroyer” and the following release titled “Skeletal Lamping”. For those who know Of Montreal’s work, they will recognize the names “Skeletal Lamping”, “The Controller Sphere”, and “False Priest” from the track titled “Faberge Falls for Shuggie” on “Hissing Fauna”. Barnes says that “The Controller Sphere” is already written and recorded, and is essentially tracks that didn’t make it onto “False Priest”.

Claiming that a few songs from “False Priest” were cut at the last second, you can expect the next EP to have the same vibe as the upcoming release with a slightly different presentation. Barnes claims that because he has so much material to choose from, that picking which songs he wants to put on the albums can sometimes be a difficult decision.

More information on “False Priest” and the later upcoming “The Controller Sphere” can be found on the official Of Montreal website. Also look for the full Washington Poster interview with Kevin Barnes on September 13, 2010.
